John Denver，美國鄉村、民謠歌手與歌曲作者，聽西洋歌曲的朋友對他應該都不陌生才是。
他曾擔任空軍軍官，酷愛開著小飛機遨遊天際，同時也是大自然的熱愛者，許多歌曲都有這些嗜好的影子。讓他一炮而紅的歌曲「Take Me Home, Country Road」，就描繪出他對田野的喜愛之情。（但我覺得好容易聽膩啊）
Denver 歌聲清亮高亢，流行樂界的男聲並不常見，有歌迷喻之為「天使的嗓音」，是極高的讚揚。
他的作品產量豐富，叫好又叫座，讓他在1996獲選進入「歌曲作者名人堂」（Songwriters Hall of Fame）。
十分活躍的他，對政治極有興趣，他是卡特總統的至交，也曾大肆抨擊雷根政權的軍事政策。此外，他致力於環境保護的工作，也長期關注非洲的飢荒災情。他多彩多姿的一生，卻在1997年嗄然而止──架著小飛機出遊，不幸在加州海灣墜機身亡，終結了他燦爛、冒險的一生。也給歌迷留下無限的喟嘆，包括我在內。 我聽他歌長大的啊。
昨天和先生聊起，他說大學時的英聽老師是外國人，有一次介紹了「Fly Away」，大家聽了都很喜歡，下課後一堆人跑去買錄音帶。讓我想起這首歌。 這個版本特別之處，是和聲。請注意，那是成為天后前的 Olivia Newton John 哦。
「Fly Away」敘述一位都會女子，生活空洞、苦悶又寂寞，對自由極渴望，卻又無處可去。一如槁木死灰，「悽悽慘慘戚戚」 。 讓我想到陳子昂對孤獨的詮釋：「前不見古人，後不見來者，念天地之悠悠，獨愴然而涕下。」像金庸筆下的「獨孤求敗」，真是了無生趣。
